Dominion Resources, Inc., located in Richmond, Virginia, is one of America's leading producers and transporters of energy and is a 2008 Secretary of Defense Freedom Award recipient in the Large Business category. Already a recipient of several ESGR awards, 76 of its employees have been mobilized since 9/11. The company has supplemented over $2.7 million dollars in pay to employees who were on annual training, extended training orders, or mobilized to support the Global War on Terror and provides a pay supplement and benefits continuation to its deployed Guard and Reserve employees for up to 60 months. The company has an assigned staff member to act as Care Package Coordinator, regularly keeping in touch with deployed Guard and Reserve employees by hosting a weekly electronic employee forum which posts correspondence from deployed employees, coordinating an 11-state care package drive program and an “Adopt a Deployed Service Member” program. Chief Executive Officer of Dominion Thomas Farrell also sends all mobilized employees a personal letter thanking them for their service. To ensure family members of deployed employees are remembered during times of deployment, they receive phone calls, holiday cards and are invited to company events. Dominion actively recruits transitioning military members and veterans.
