Oshkosh Corporation, headquartered in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, is a recipient of the Secretary of Defense Freedom Award in the category of Large Business. Oshkosh Corporation, also a recipient of the ESGR Pro Patria Award, designs and builds specialty trucks, truck bodies and access equipment. The company makes the active duty mobilizations of their employees as comfortable and worry-free as possible for both service members and their families. When Major Dion Anglin, United States Marine Corps Reserves, deployed to Iraq in 2006, the company held a special going away dinner for him. He received care packages while serving abroad, and upon his return was welcomed with a lunch and a decorated office courtesy of coworkers. A “Wall of Honor” appears at each plant displaying Reserve members’ photos and profiles. Oshkosh Corporation makes contributions to deployed employees’ unit family support groups; has coordinated transportation for their Guard and Reservists to visit their families; and has raised and donated several thousand dollars worth of toys for Toys for Tots, a United States Marine Corps Reserve-run program which donates toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them Christmas gifts. The company regularly attends military hiring conferences all over the country, seeking to employ current and former military personnel in management positions and pays the difference between corporate salary and military base play.
