Small Business category. Previously, the company has received the Pro Patria Award. Robinson Transport provides $1,000 a month to the families of deployed service member employees in order to supplement their household income. Robinson Transport pays all company bonuses as well as provides full life, health and dental insurance benefits for their deployed Guard and Reserve employees. During an employee’s deployment, Robinson Transport maintains regular email contact and even purchases laptops for use while away. This small company has also contributed $5,000 to provide faster and more accessible internet to their deployed employees and the other members of their unit. They also routinely train managers and supervisors on the provisions of USERRA so they can effectively manage their Guard and Reserve employees. Robinson Transport encourages public appreciation for their military employees by submitting updates and pictures of their Guard and Reserve employees to local newspapers and recognizing them at company functions and activities. Their support goes beyond their military employees, generously contributing to family support organizations which provide aid to the families of service members from all branches of the reserve components. When a deployed service member admitted to Mr. Robinson that he was making more money while deployed than at work, Mr. Robinson said, “Don’t worry about it; I want to help.”
